5 Reasons You Can’t Lose Weight Exercising

You have done everything right.

Changed your eating habits, started working out, and even cut out alcohol. But all of a sudden your weight loss has come to a halt.

What happened?

Here are 5 things that might stall your weight loss goals.

1. You are consuming more calories than you are burning

I have dealt with this my entire weight loss journey. I have always been active but, once I started seeing definition, I’ll have a cheat day, then that turns into a cheat week. Next thing you know, I’ve gained all my weight back and I have to start over.

It’s hard to stay consistent but just know that 21 days forms a habit but 90 days creates a lifestyle.

2. You’re not consuming enough calories

I have been here too, especially with intermittent fasting. Sometimes I will only eat one meal a day and my body is starving. So now my body is holding onto the fat because she doesn’t know when I’ll eat again.

Now I have nothing against intermittent fasting, I actually still do it, but I listen to my body more, and even if I’m not hungry, I try to eat something.

To make sure you don’t go into storage mode, you should make sure you have no more than a 500 calorie deficit. Don’t want to count calories, there are plenty of apps that will help you and keep you on track.

3. You are working out at a lower intensiy

HIIT workouts also known as High Intensity Interval Workouts are amazing, but when you are sore from the day before you aren’t going to work out at the same level.

A heart rate monitor or smart watch can help you keep track of your progress. If you find yourself at a stand still with your weight loss then start using this and see how this helps.

4. You are overtraining

If you aren’t losing weight, you might be overtraining. When you don’t eat enough your body starts holding onto fat. The same thing happens when your body is sore and fatigued.

Make sure you are getting the rest you need between workouts and pay attention to your body so you are getting the best out of each workout.

5. You’ve improved

When workouts become easier, you won’t lose weight like you did before. When you can go through a workout and it was a breeze, it’s time to change it up. Add weights, do another type of workout, challenge yourself.
